  • How To Secure Your Facebook Account

Well, in today’s world most of us are using social networking sites in our daily life, but how many people know that they are secured while using these sites. Most of the leading networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., provide their best security services for their users, but how many people are aware of these services. In my previous article I have discussed about “How to Make Your Twitter Account More Secure”. Today I am going to explain how to secure your Facebook account.

One of the main default security options is accessing your website trough HTTPS service. There are some more options like “asking computer name”, “end activity”, “receiving SMS or Email” which I will discuss later in this article. Facebook don’t force their user to use these services by default, but you can use these services by enabling the option from your account section. Let me discuss the step by step process.

Step 1: Select “Account Settings” from your Facebook Account tab.

Step 2: At the bottom of Account Settings page you will find account security options, now click on the change button.

Step 3: From the below picture you can see an option Secure Browsing (https), check to activate your HTTPS service.

Step 4: Below to secure browsing you will find two options “send me an email” and “send me a text message”. If you registered your mobile you will find the “send me a text message” option. Check these options and save the changes.

What for these options “send me an email” and “send me a text message”?

When these options were checked, after login before going to your home page, Facebook asks for computer or device name. Whatever device name you are giving, you will receive that name via email and via text message to your registered mobile number.

You can find these in account activity in the above picture. It will shows most recent activity and also the active previous login which are not signed out properly. By clicking on “end activity” you can logout the other sessions which are enabled.
